  1. The American way of life is about over.  Look at credit card dept and mortgage fraud.  Look at the stock market dropping by huge percents, notice that Ford and GM are going bankrupt and are loosing unbelievable amounts of money look at the profit and loss of most media companies.  This country as we knew it is gone, welcome  to the Great Bush Depression - its not going away anytime soon.

  2. There are limits to growth.  Your resources.  The only way to avoid those limits at all is to use innovation to become more efficient with your resources, or to find new ones.

I think the US is not "dead," but it is definitely seeing some rot that we need to cut out before we die.  Namely our addiction to oil and other fossil fuels.

Yes, we are heading into a Bush depression.  This is the first time in my 35 yrs. of life that I have heard of people having to adjust their household food consumption because of rising food prices.  I remember rationing out gasoline in the 70s, but I don't remember families cutting back on food like they are today.

I have hope.  I believe that, as a people, Americans are more innovative and resilient than any other group in history.  We aren't afraid to try new things.  Every time we lose an industry to overseas competitors, we come up with something new.  We just have to be patient and hope the Next Big Thing comes out of an American's mind soon.  The last big thing we had was the Internet.

    So come on America!!!  Think!
