Because apparently it's supposed to be visible in some parts of the Northeast.

  2. Hi Wednesday.

No part of Friday's eclipse is visible from Massachusetts.

The only place in the lower 48 that will see any of the eclipse is extreme northern Maine, where someone with a clear view of the northeastern horizon might see a few minutes of the partial eclipse as it ends right after sunrise.  You could go to Newfoundland, where they would see 40% of the solar disc eclipsed at sun-up.

The next total eclipse of the sun that anyone can see in Mass will be the early morning of May 1, 2079.

  3. No. It ends north of Winnipeg, Canada at 11:30 GMT. Perhaps Mass will see a partial eclipse.
