President Bush signed into law the Post 9/11 GI Bill on June 30, 2008. The new GI Bill will not go into effect until Aug. 1 2009. I will be eligible for BAH under the new GI Bill. Will I recieve a lump BAH backpay for the months between now and Aug. 1 2009 that I am a full time student?

  1. "No. The Post-9/11 GI Bill only covers classes taken or training pursued on or after August 1, 2009.  However, the payment rates for the active duty GI Bill and REAP will increase effective August 1, 2008."

I'm also seeing that that are changing it so the check/payment goes directly to the school.....probably making it harder for us to spend the money elsewhere.   My friend just got off the phone and said the BAH part of the new GI Bill is for people who serve through fiscal year 08.
