  1. I am British, but my heart does not grow cold. Although we have some areas with high crime rates, I live in an area which has a good sense of community spirit. I see teenagers being polite to thier elders; people still smile and say "hello" to strangers. Life is good! My pint is half full!

  2. yes its life

  3. yes its getting out of hand!

  4. Yes, even the silent majority are getting fed up.  G K Chesterton famously wrote, "smile at us, pay us, pass us, but do not quite forget, for we are the people of England who have not spoken yet" ...

  5. Hi,

I feel it depends on where you live.

I know some city areas in Britain have become an unfreindly, cold-hearted place, with little or no community spirit.

This is obviously a sad state of affairs, but perhaps was always thus in large dense populations.

I am lucky in living in a rural Bedfordshire town, where it is common to smile & say "hi" to strangers.

Generally help folks, become involved in some community activity, etc.

So all is not lost !

I just pity the poor souls in high crime areas, it must be soul-destroying sometimes.

    I would move out !

  6. NO but the next generation will be totally out of control and have no boundries.

  7. Yes.

  8. Think joined with the state of the economy here they are already part way there
