Question:

Will the Chinese Yuan ever depreciate again to the point it was at one year ago? or will it just keep rising?

It's been appreciating and the dollar keeps falling. I'm moving to Beijing this summer and its making me nervous.

  1. The Yuan is a managed currency, which means that it does not float. The government is managing the currency to have about 4-6% appreciation per year, subject to changes in other currencies (especially the US $).  Unless you're getting paid in US$, you should be happy about it as you'll get 4-6% raise every year in US$ terms due to the strengthening currency.
