Will the Cincinnati Reds ever call up any starting pitching this year from the minors?

Homer Bailey, Johnny Cueto, and Josh Fogg are horrible. Not to mention they just recalled Aaron Harang from the DL and he is pretty terrible this year too. The four have a combined 12-33 record along with an average ERA of 6.42. My question is when will Dusty Baker give up on these guys? Why doesn't he give somebody in AAA or AA a shot? I don't even care if he gives a guy from A a shot, something else because the four starters opposite Edinson Volquez have less wins than Volquez does, it's ridiculous.

  1. The audition will start when the rosters are expanded. That does not mean just tossing guys out there with hopes they can do well, but a plan with strict pitch-counts and the use of several young arms per game. The club has done too much of throwing young guys onto the mound and having them learn while getting shelled....the key to 2009 is to see if there is some talent that can be tapped into during spring training.

  2. Call Up Thompson!

  3. Look for Matthew Maloney a big left hander from AAA Louisville and Same Lecure a righty in AA Chattanooga who has pitched well as of late with a ERA of 3.13 last 10 starts while going 4-3.

  4. Its frickin killin me too bro. I've been a longtime fan but I'm starting to feel like Baker and the boys just don't care about winning or just don't know how to win! It's at the scouting level all the way up to the top brass. They need a severe overhaul and Fogg, Weathers, Coffey, Patterson, Majewski, d**k Pole and Dusty Baker all need to be served their walking papers. I will not pay my hard-earned money to go to the ballpark anymore until they make a sincere commitment to putting a Major League caliber team on the field. I'm tired of them laughing their way to the bank while consistently putting below average players on the field! 8 years in a row of a losing record is not acceptable to me as a fan and it shouldn't be to any other fan either!!

  5. i know they are done just look at some young players for next year and see what happens send back down johnny cueto because he stinks

  6. These pitchers have been horrible and lately Volquez has not been on his game.  Calling up these pitchers from the minors can't hurt.  They surely can't be any worse.  Maybe when rosters are expanded we can see a change.  I say get rid of the coast Pole.  He is horrible  It is

Dusty's first year but he hasn't showed that the reds can win and really want to.  19 games out already is unbearable!  Diehard reds fan.

  7. they really need pitching help! edison volquez is the only one who is doing good this year..
