  1. I believe they have the potential. With the NL's best starting rotation(Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly, Marquis) and a solid bullpen(Howry, Marmol, Wood) along with a spectacular offense (Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Soto, Fukudome, etc.), they have a great chance. Their schedule isn't that tough from now on. If they can sweep the NL's second best team (Brewers) then they can pretty much beat any team in the NL, thus finishing the year with a .600 winning percentage.

  2. I have them at 94 wins (in my group we are allowed to change once before mid season. I stayed with 94). NOt quite 600, but they are playing like it right now. How to get four more wins will be determined by what happens between the brewers and the cards.

    Brewers 87

    Card's    87

    and then there's everyone else.

  3. No. The only way they can finish .600 is if they go 30-18 which they might come close to, but miss.

  4. can they? yes

    will they? anybody's guess

even though i am not a cubbie fan, i gotta root for them to be in the WS--cubs fans have waited too long for a title....and after they win it all, i am expecting every cubs fan to also begin to root for my mariners! (lol)...oh yeah, lets also be realistic here--getting to the WS and winning it are two different things--the LA angels (from anaheim, lol) are formidable--scary even! Cubs-angels? that oughta be a great WS.

  5. I'm not exactly positive as to what a .600 winning percentage is at the end of the season, but right now they're at .596, so I'd say they have a good chance.

  6. Possibly. Hard to do with parity in baseball.

  7. It's entirely possible.  Let's not crown them with anything just yet though, there's a lot of baseball left to be played.  Of course we all want to see them finish with a good record, but I'll take a .500 record from them if it means we win a World Series.  Just keep your fingers crossed and enjoy the ride.

  8. most likely because they added Rich Harden to their lineup.  Before the trade they had the hitting to get the job done but adding another ace to their lineup takes the pressure off of Carlos Zambrano to pitch well.
