Will the Detroit Lions be a playoff contender?

I am a die hard lions fan, and after going 6-2 first 8, than 1-7 the last 8 i was crushed. alot of their losses were under or at 7 points, and with kitna having an amazing season and calvin johnson looking great, along with the o-line somewhat improving and rookie rb kevin smith, i think the offense will do good. the defenese however this preseason has been phenomenal. i went to the first preseason game and i was dumbfounded how much better they had played.

i know its preseason but...could this be last years cleveland browns?

they might but if Tjack and A-rod both do crappy, but I wouldnt say Calvin Johnson looked great he was always injured, he isnt even the best reciever on their team

I love their offense now since Martz is gone.  Smith should rush for +1000 yds and Tatum Bell should add another +400.  They have 2 +1000 yd receivers (Williams and Johnson).  And 2 great slot recievers (Furrey and McDonald).

So they can pound the ball up the middle, or spread 4 WRs.  Very dangerous to gameplan against.

But... their defense probably won't even be ranked in the top 25.

I think they can finish anywhere from 6-10 to 10-6.

last year was hard to watch. i think it will be a little better . maybe 9-7 and pull a wildcard spot. Its the preseason so i'm not getting my hopes too high. Calvin Johnson has been awesome in the first two games and then roy williams had a good game against the Browns. I was worried about two things so far.1 is that I didn't see much of Furrey and Mcdonald so far. 2. Kevin Smith has to be more solid. 9 carries for 9 yards isn't good but then he had a 35 yard run. I would like to see more consistency. the pressure that the browns got on kitna was concerning too.

they have to do 4 things to make the playoffs:

1. at least have a decent run game

2. keep the pressure of kitna

3. spread the ball between Johnson, Williams, Furrey, and Mcdonald

4. WIN THE GAMES THEYRE SUPPOSED TO.

If they won the games they were supposed to last year (Redskins, Cardinals,...) they would've made the playoffs.

This year, they will have to pull some upsets over the Vikes and the Jags to make the playoffs.

9-7 it might sneak them in there are not a bad team any more there gonna beat green bay twice at least detroit has a good qb rodgers who is he another ryan leaf i think. Wait at leaf was a top 10 pick.
