Will the Fisher Motor Sailor really go anywhere?

Their website claims this motor sailor will go safely anywhere. Are they exaggerating? I want to go from Seattle to Hawaii then on to New Zealand and Australia. Will this really take me where I want to go safely? See link

  1. The guys are right, the boat will do it. The crew is what is in question.

  2. Yeah thats a fine boat but do yourself a favor and take some sailing lessons first.

  3. Snowy,

This would depend on the crew more so than the boat.  It is a long slog to Hawaii from Seattle.  If you are aware of the currents, you will head south to south of San Francisco before heading to the west.  Once you are out about 4 days, you will see the seas generally settle.

Keeping a close watch on the weather, you can travel to your heart's content.  When you travel this way, you can not keep a schedule, you travel when the weather gives the OK.  Sometimes those passages that are long 3 or 4 days out and beyond, you have to be able to read weather patterns.  Don't forget to read and study your pilot charts.
