  1. Simple answer for the short term is probably no.  However constant dialogue over the coming years may have some effect.

  2. No.

With what authority and basis will it.

So when India and China were fighting epidemics, illiteracy and famine, Americans were smoking the butts of their factory chimney's off and Europeons elated over their industrial revolution.

Just cause now that its over for the better offs and just cause Chinese and Indian progress is chronologically offset from the rest of the developed world, others would press for putting brakes to their growth. These countries are making do with what they have come up with. A few years later these would add only as much to the atmosphere as other countries.

If others are so bothered why dont they come up and help with tech. Otherwise it is these countries' right to continue with their development programmes ( what 'development' might not be in the eyes of others).

The sudden worry about environment and people like Al Gore creating 1 sided debate  for global warming. Everybody on this earth who does the same amount of labour has the right to live as comfortably and as happily.

Tell me how many in the developed world made sure to use less petrol and eat less or compromise on their standard of life. None I guess.( My apologies to those of you who did).

If others want China & India to stop doing some of the industrial stuff they should supply them with

    1. Money

    2. Technology to do so w/o hampering growth as fas as posb.

    3. Any other support

    4. Uniformity of natural resource usage across the world.

PS: I dont have to mention the size of carbon foot print in various countries ( US, Europeon countries, China, India etc) and the sheer dispartiy in those foot prints sizes.

  3. Recently, with the price of gas growing high, the worry about the energy and the climate of the earth is spreading all over the world. As a developing country, and developing so fast, China was blamed as a pusher of the gas price, and also criticized of not setting up enough methods to prevent the polution from the developing industry. However, After subscribing Kyoto, China has begun preparing to put it into practice to reduce the output of greenhouse gases, while we all know what USA and Australia have done to Kyoto. Americans spend gas 4 times as much as Chinese per capita, and they are still abandoning themself to such kind of costly consumption. Meanwhile, the industrial countries are transfering those high energy-consumed industries to developing countries such as China, so China become a scapegoat. Nevertheless, much more better should Chinese do in the enviroment protection, and this is a job not only Chinese should do, but also every country in the world should do. We should not only blame others. Besides criticizing, why not also give them helps and supports, including technique, education and money?

  4. I doubt. It is kind late now. China is looking for a magic formula to improve the air quality prior to august 8, 2008. although it appears as slightly improved, it is not meet the international standards yet. As many media have criticized

that china can't fulfill the Oympic requirements, i seleced the more conservative articles describe about the improvement of spending h**l lots of money. I appreciate your concern to the environment, however; it is difficult to teach an old dog to learn a new trick or change the stubborness of a donkey. It is all and only because of the ******* money and monetary growth of each country, none of them to give a d**n whatsoever. We need to educate them to change their mind and heart other than put political pressure on them.
