When the LHC fires up, and runs its scheduled tests, do you think the Higgs boson will be found? And if not, what will happen?

--Note: For LHC conspiricy theorists:

LHC FUNCTION FINE. NO BLACK HOLE. EARTH SURVIVE. NOTHING HAPPEN. LIFE CONTINUE NORMAL.

  1. You ask the dumbest questions of all big guy.

  2. Hope so or CERN built the worlds biggest microwave oven.

  3. There's no such thing. It's a hoax! Wake up!

  4. I am for them not finding it, but for them finding a whole new way of thinking, after they discover something even newer and even more mysterious.

  5. yes and then we will have FLYING CARS!

    woo!

    and rockets to Alpha Centauri...

  6. My guess (and that is all it is, a guess) is that they will not find it.

I would wish that IF it exists, they could find it (because I agree with spazzyMcgee's analysis).

On the other hand, with this much energy, they are bound to find new things (and, if they don't find the boson, they might at least find an upper bound for its size).

  7. I think so, yes!

  8. Doubt it. Since the Higg's field is related to the ZPE field . A particle? Try a frequency. A reverberation of energy bouncing back and forth throughout the universe.

I remember Luke Skywalker saying to the Emperor "Your overconfidence is your weakness"...and thus Lord Vader tossed the wrinkled old Sith bugger into the seemingly bottomless hole and the evil one was coverted into the force or energy....and thus rejoined the Higg's field :).

I guess Luke was right, no? :)

Can we assume the same for any overconfident scientists and supporters? I haven't seen too many of them yet. That's good.

  9. ????????????????????????????????????????...

  10. That's the current theory.

But it would be more interesting if the current theory were wrong.
