I think what's happening is something that's been going on for a long time. The King children presented a unified front to appease their mother but after she died, there was nothing really holding them together. I don't want to sound too personal here but it does sound strange that none of them ever got married. According to accounts from family friends I've read in the past, it was largely due to Coretta. She chased off potential suitors because she felt that none of them were good enough for her children.
