Question:

Will the Luas from Connolly get me to Heuston by 630?

I'm going to Dublin for the first time with my mum. We are lodging close to Connolly. We need to get to Heuston Station by 615-630 in the morning on a Friday. If we take the Luas outside Connolly can we get there by that time? I believe the website says it starts at 530 and runs every 15 minutes. It also takes about 15 minutes to get there correct? Is the Luas good with time? If we get there about 530, we could get a ride around 545 and be there by 600? I'm just worried about missing our $300 train ride.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. the luas is usually on time, except if something stupid happens [like a car crashed into the luas], but they rarely happen. just beware that there might be loads of commuters, so don't be surprized if you don't get a seat

  2. Luas is a highly modern tram system. In general, it is very reliable and it is rare for services to be seriously disrupted. Your timings sound fine. It is about 15 minutes from Connolly to Heuston (even at rush hour so definitely at that early hour).  Should you be very unlucky and there is an issue that morning, you can easily get a bus (number 90 I think) or taxi anyway, but don't worry, the luas will deliver!

  3. At that time in the morning you should be fine. I've done the same trip at lunch time in 15 mins.

Hope it all goes fine for you.
