Question:

Will the McCain VP pick help or harm the Democratic ticket?

I've been waffling all night. One school of thought says she'll draw the angry woman vote from those who lost with Hilary. But would liberal women vote for McCain just to spite Obama? Women are generally liberal. Not all, but most. So will she actually draw a liberal vote, despite her anti-choice, pro- death penalty, NRA, anti-homosexual agenda?

Another school says this will hurt McCain as he's forcing people to choose a minority one way or another, and this will irritate his more rural constituents who readily hand the Republicans the midwest every 4 years.

What are your theories? Please cheer me up. : )

  1. There isn't a dime's worth of difference between Republicans and Democrats, especially when it comes to foreign policy. Bush's replacement patsy wont be any less vociferous and committed to the current presidents pursuit of America.

Like other pro-empire, pro-intervention advocates both the Republican and Democratic Parties; all pick and choose which third world countries are likely to succumb to US regime-change techniques such as coups, assassination's, foreign aid, invasions and occupations etc.

It wont make a bit of difference, who is in control; and that is the problem.

  2. I don't think she'll draw in the votes of the disgruntled Hilary supporters who have half a brain.  She's too far to the right.  Not only that, but she got picked solely on the fact that she has a v****a.  I mean, McCain had only met her once before choosing her as a running mate.  My, what an impression she must have made on him.  Come on, how much more transparent could this be?  If anything, I think this will hurt his image.

  3. Well ~ it's a view from outside (Australia), but it seems like the Clinton supporters are not dumb enough to support Palin just because she has t1ts!

In fact, I think this choice has given McCain the radical right vote (and shown him for what he is), but ensured that those who supported Hilary Clinton will definitely either vote for Obama or not vote at all (I think you guys don't have to?).

People know this 'choice' for what it is ~ a sop to the fundies, but as to whether it will cost McCain the election ~ well, that depends how many get off their rear ends and get into the ballot boxes, I guess.

    Cheers :-)

  4. So far it seems to have helped him--not necessarily with the women vote, but with voters in general.  I've already seen a lot of people who were previously uncertain now side with McCain because of Palin--and not just because she's a female but because she's a rather hardcore individual who has taken on corruption (removed two people of her own party from office), is very strongly against dependence on foreign oil (sued the federal government for not allowing Alaska to drill), and strong for helping the environment (wants to create a cabinet strictly for taking care of/improving the environment).  She also has a high approval rating (85%) in Alaska and has a son heading off to Iraq (just like McCain). She adds a connection with the common people that McCain lacked.

Will she get the "women's" vote?  I don't know and I don't care.  Anyone who votes for gender (or race) should hardly be voting in the first place.  Though I am happy she is a woman, I am more pleased with her stats and (most) of her stances (I'm pro-choice and pro-g*y-marriage).

As far as most women being liberal---what?  That's not even true.  What about all the Republican women?  What, you think the Republican party is made up of only men?  Women are both liberal and conservative-- it depends on your views and quite often on where you live.
