Will the Olympics ever return to Greece???

Question

I have a quick question about the Olympics. Will the Olympics ever return to Greece? If so, when? If not, why? I read somewhere on the news, that they will not be holding the Olympics in Greece anymore, for reasons why.

The Olympics won't return to Greece for a long if ever. However they should be held in Greece every year, its their games and no one should be able to take it from them. today we see all the powerful countries host the games but it should be in Olympia, Greece every year. Now the olympics are too political and commercial and everyone is doping, the olympic name is deteriorating.

They hopefully will soon but probably not that soon since the olympics only happen every 4 years. This time they were in China and last time they were in Greece.

Olympics are pretty expensive to having them so often....

We are still paying taxes for them....

The Olympic Games have been in Athens in 2004.

I do not think, that they will return to Greek for the next 20 to 40 years, since there are so many countries/cities applying for, and every country wants to get a chance to be the host.

I do not have links or news but personally I think the Olympics should be spread around more to other countries.  Everyone seems to want an expensive Olympics now rather than one filled with the content and emotion it is supposed to have.  Not to say that Greece is not a great choice but because the games started there, that should probably wait till a 100 year or 200 year mark when the games will have an association with when the first games started way back when.  Just my opinion.

I've enjoyed the Olympic games in Greece!

But about their returning in Greece, that's not going to happen in the next 50 years, for sure!

The International Olympic Committee had a lot of problems with 2004 host, because the National olympic committee of Greece was struggling with the preperations and got a lot of critics from the IOC!

Even now, after 4 years most of the olympic capacities are closed, used like homeless shelters....

But however I loved and enjoyed those Olympic games!

It's not that they will never come back. Someday they will, but after many many years.

The Athens' Olympics were held in 2004 so it's too early to come back in Greece.

There are so many countries in the world and every country must have the honor to host the Olympics.

As for the Olympic Stadiums... don't forget that the population of Athens it's not so big, and the people who deal with athleticism are not enough to use all the Olympic Stadiums, especially the Stadiums of games that are not very popular to the Greeks.

It's true that the Government should have made a plan about all these.

Also they can modify them in something else.

A good example is the Badminton Stadium which is a huge theater now, the "Badminton Theater".

No, just read that they will not.  the reason is because the host city has to show that all of the venues will have uses after the olympics are over.  after the last athens Olympics there stadiums and venues have been vacant and have deteriorated after 4 years.  The olympic committees are disappointed that the city didn't follow through with the plans to use there multi-million dollar stadiums.
