Will the PS4 really come out in 2010?

Many people are saying PS4 will come out in 2010....Is this true?

I cant help but find it funny at some of the answers provided, Most of which a completely full of misinformation, namely the reply right above me. Sony will not be releasing a new console for at-least another 6-8 years.

Where was it stated that SONY was (almost) went bankrupt after the release of the PS3? i for one would like to see the source of this information. So could you please provide it.

The PS3 is clearly the primed to win this round of the console war, with the newly developed 500GB Blu-ray disk, IMAGINE the possibilities of all the information that game companies can put into game of the future. XBOX nor nintendo can come close to having their consoles handle that information. They are going to have to adopt a newer format to keep up with SONY.

Ususally a new PS comes out 6 years into the cylce of the old one, with the old sytem being remvoed at year 10  (Sony's famous 10 year cycle)

PSX - 1994-2005 - CD

PS2 - 2000 - (2010) - DVD

PS3 - 2006 - (2016) - BRD

PS4 - (2012) - (2022) - (Hologrpahic-Disc?)

etc etc

the point about sony always using the latest discs is a pretty decent one too, it is sort of their mission for thier consoels to introduce the new formats into the home, outr families first DVD palyer was the PS2, and now the PS3 is the first BRD palyer.

Nah i dont think so. Sony said that if there even is a ps4, it wont even begin production until 2010. It makes sense though. Actually, it should come out later. The ps3 is so amazing, and i just dont see people wanting a ps4 until 2015 at least. Give the ps3 a good 9 or 10 years first. And honestly, i dont see what will improve in the ps4. i mean the graphics for ps3 are amazing. its kinda hard to picture even better graphics than that. And i think Blu Ray is the highest quality video movies or anything will get. Common think about it, how can quality get better than Blu Ray.

I guess we will just have to wait and see huh? Take care man.

it ain't really coming out at 2010 cause they made different playstation every 4 to 5 years it might be more like 2012 to 2014.

Maybe slim version of ps3 because sony makes new consoles only when new discs come out:

Ps1 - cd

Ps2 - dvd

Psp - umd

Ps3 - bd

I'm not sure. I could care less about searching through forums all day. However, why would they build it so soon if they just put out Playstation 3, it's hard to keep up with console games anymore......That's why i'm a PC gamer. (Halo and Starcraft).

sony stated that the ps3's lifespan will be around 10 yrs. it will come out around 2015. the ps3 just came out 2 yrs ago. to come out in another 2yrs would be rediculous. well playstation consoles have always lasted longer than the others.

so know it will deffinetely not come out in 2010. that's just what xbox fanboys want potential ps3 cosutmers to think so they will stay away from it.

Game consoles come out in lifespans of 5 years. The PS1, N64, PS2, and XBOX all went by this pace. The current consoles are expected to have longer lifespans than the previous ones. So at the very earliest you could expect a PS4 in 2013-2014. Microsoft begun development on the XBOX 720 when the 360 was released, and have stated they intend to release it well before the next SONY console, and have it planned for a 2013 release. But this is assuming SONY ever makes another game console. Most developers and Journalists have estimated the PS3 will be the last console SONY releases, considering how much money they lost in its production. The PS3 almost bankrupted SONY 6 months after its release.

EDIT: Alright. $3.3 BILLION dollars in losses over the course of one year for SONY when they lowered the price of the PS3 last year. Google it. Original Source: Yahoo! News when the story aired. I said they'd be releasing their next console in 2013-1014, which IS six years from now. It's a good thing SONY is switching to them' 500gb Blu-Ray discs, maybe now you won't have to install games onto your hard drive to play them.

Sony OFFICIALLY stated (in 2006) that PS3 will have a lifespan of 7-10 years. That menas will see a new console in 2013-2016.
