Question:

Will the Puma eat the Bokke?

Having never once beaten RSA, I doubt Argentina will surprise the Africans. I also hope that when the Bokke put 30 points on the Pumas, people will stop "demanding" that the Pumas join the tri-nations. Or am I wrong? Will the Pumas thump the Bokke and stake their claim for a tri-natons berth? If nothing else I hope they soften the green monster for the Capetown test next weekend.

  1. Would love to see the pumas eat the Boks but it ain't going to happen. Argentina are still a step back from the Tri-Nations teams despite their great world cup. I would love it if Argentina are included in the Tri-Nations but think it might take them a couple of years to notch up a win.

  2. apparently the pumas are bringing their top side. boks look like we have a bit of a B+ side going on. or an A- maybe. I still think the Boks will win, the Pumas lost to Italy (god knows what team they had on the field tho). Now I am a big springboks fan, but I almost hope the Argies win or come very very close tongiht cos I wanna see them in the tri nations!! hopefully its a good game

  3. the pumas played well for the first 30 minutes

but the boks showed thier superiority after that. there was a lack of cohesion and direction before that, too many forwards taking the ball up, bad decisions etc.

  4. I am fairly passionate about seeing Los Pumas join our competition but it is not going to a spectacle unless all their players are available to play the entire series. Most of their players are committed to their french and italian clubs who's season begins when the tri nations are being played. Los Pumas cannot afford to expose their weaknesses to tri nations rugby without their top players as it will be embarrassing for them. I too hope they are smashed by the Argies before the AB's play them and I also hope the are not thrashed.

Rugby is not growing fast enough to a real coporate level in Argentina for their players to stay in their country as we as Kiwis should know from our history.

  5. I agree with you, Argentina aren't quite good enough - at least not yet - to join the Tri-Nations. We don't want the Italian equivalent of the Six Nations up north. They were destroyed year in year out until just recently. Give Argentina more time to improve and build (if possible) a better infra-structure from the club scene. No one wants an eay beat in the Tri Nations or you'll see the other teams start sending "B" teams over there to play them. Ask me the same question after the next WC. As far as tonights game goes, the Boks will win, without question. I say SA by 23 pts. The Pumas might get a try and their usual handful of penalties / drop goals (which should NOT be worth 3 points - but that is another issue). It would be nice to see the yarpies softened up but I really can't see Argentina getting up for this one.

  6. i would like to see the Pumas win, but I can't see it.

  7. Pumas normally have very good tight forwards. Their backs aren't too bad either when you consider how they went at the world cup.

I think the Pumas can take them but if the game is being played under ELVs, I would have to back the Boks because of their experience with the new rules.

  8. if the pumas do not join our competetion they may well get into the six nations. If That happens the pressure may see the boks go there too same time zone better money less travel. Then NZ and Australia would be in even deeper hot water. The pumas are pasonite about rugby and hey they have given the abs a few scares. Playing in argentina is not easy. I for one think it would be great to have them aboard.
