Question:

Will the Rays finish the season in first place?

The Tampa Bay Rays have 48 games left, 29 on the road and 19 at home. At one point in the season that remains, Tampa Bay will play either the Yankees or Red Sox 12 games out of 15...It doesn't look promising, but if the Rays can come out of those games against the Yankees and Red Sox at .500 or better, they will be a shoe-in for the division...what do you think?

  1. yes. i am sticking to my prediction of an angels vs. rays A.L.C.S.. i think the rays would challenge the angels more than people think.

i believe they have a great shot at the division if they play good against the red sox like they always do.

and if not they are still like 6 games better than any other team contending for the wild card.so unless they completely collapse i see them in the post season no doubt

  2. nope...the red sox are starting to play better baseball after that trade...ellsbury is also heating up...lowrie will be playing in stead of lugo...the rays ownt be able to hold it much longer...it might end close but the red sox will surely come out on top

  3. No the Red Sox will but I hope that the Rays will get the Wild Card.

  4. No. They're not going to win the division if the lost to the Mariners. The Yankees are 6-0 against them. :)

  5. No, but they will make wild card.

  6. i think that the redsox will win first place

  7. They will finish in first and go to the ALCS, maybe even win the world series. but I think the Rays and Cubs play in the WS.

  8. Yes, I BELIEVE!!!  The Rays are going strong but their remaining schedule goes against them.  They are 5-7 vs the Yankees and 6-6 vs Boston this year. With 6 more a piece -- 3 road and 3 home.   They need to play better on the road.  If and it's a big if, they do, then the division is theirs for the taking.

  9. YUPP

  10. Yes they will and I will tell you why.It comes down to one key element.Youth.This is the first year in forever including Ruths ERA that nobody and I mean nobody at all is on the juice.Even in Ruths era they used amphedamines to get through a season. This year its no juice what so ever. This is one main reason why the Rays are in first. They are young.energetic and have the stamina for a whole season. Not only that with no juice the days of dominating pitching are back and the Rays have the youngest deepest rotation.Later this month you will see more of the old Yankees and Sox need rest and have injuries.Mark my words they will win because the juice is no longer loose.

  11. h**l yeah

  12. Yes, they will

  13. I think Boston will finish in first place

  14. i think they've done enough to prove that they are for real. i think theyll finish in first too.

  15. If they do win this year it will be one of the greatest rags-to-riches stories in the history of baseball.  We must concede that they do have a very good team and one that is capable of winning the division.  I have to believe that the remaining schedule favors the Red Sox with 25 of their remaining 47 games at home while the Ray have 29 of their remaining 48 games on the road.  I would love to see them do it but it could turn out to be an uphill battle down stretch.

  16. This team reminds me of the 2001 dbacks.  Two stud pitchers who can take over a series.  3,4, 5 solid and a solid mix of younsters and veterans offensively.

  17. many people think they're going to fade away when they hit the end of the schedule because they struggle on the road, but i really think the rays are going to win this division...they have always had enough offense to compete, but their pitching hasn't come around until this year, and i think the fact that the red sox and yankees are both extremely shaky is going to help them steal the al east in the end

  18. I feel they will. They continue to go unnoticed even while in first. Sure commentators mention of them as "The East leading Rays", but about it. They continue to get no press, media attention, or television coverage what so ever. Perhaps this works in favor to them. Also out of the 3 contending teams in The East, with Boston and NY, they seem to be more steady, consistent. With under 50 games left, remains to be seen, but I personally think they have all the elements to remain on top and head into playoffs. Also they continue to have the best record within the division, which is quite important and unnoticed as well.

  19. I think they will fade away in the end.

  20. i really think they will, but, they wont get past the angels in the playoffs

  21. YES!!!

Red Sox will REGRET giving up Manny

    Yankees pitching is HORRIBLE.

I don't see either team putting together enough of a run to take them out.

(It's fun rooting for the underdog...GO RAYS!)

  22. I'm a Yankees fan and from the Yankee perspective I will say that any hope for us taking the division looks pretty grim.  If the Yanks get roughed up during this series in LA then I would say we're fighting for our wild card life.  The Yankees in recent years have had trouble handling the Rays when they were garbage....I can't expect the Yankees to dominate them now that they're very good.
