Many immature answers missed the whole point.

  1. yes,

on one screen,  thousands of well-heeled whites sipping champaign and toasting  McCain.

on the other,  thousands of ------- sitting on their roofs , shouting "We needs help!"

  2. Oh yea, right...

You ask your question as if Bush has super natural powers and personally sent the hurricanes.

The "Government Dependent" result of Lyndon Johnson's great social experiment, were so dependent on everything being done for them; they would not even run for their own lives when the time came!

I can hardly see where that level of stupidity and laziness is George Bushes fault...

  3. I knew it!  You all DO think Bush is God!

How the h**l is Bush supposed to stop a CAT 4 hurricane?  Do you really believe the flooding will be his fault????

  4. i hope so, it's too bad all the people left this time, it was fun to see everyone on their roof waiting for Bush to show up and save them

  5. you know the fact that New Orleans was built under sea level was not Bush's decision nor the fact that the leveys there were only built to level 3 standards. Both of those were done a LONG time ago and many administrations had opprotunity to fix that.

  6. ''New Orleans get flooded under Bush'' You know a few years back I would say to myself ''is this person crazy'' But I've become so use to this irrational thinking I just shack my head

What year were you born 1970 How would you like it if we blamed Jimmy Carter for you These things happen

  7. Very possible and it's shameful and sad that in the richest country in the world a right wing fringe controls political debate that much they prevent necessary maintenance to a point were it endangers the lives of the American people. Maintenance costs money but is absolutely necessary or a country slowly but steadily slides into third world conditions.

"America's core infrastructure has been falling apart in very visible ways during the past few years. It's a predictable outcome of the rise of "backlash" conservatism; we've swallowed 30 years of small-government rhetoric, and it's led us to a point in which our infrastructure, once the pride of the developed world, is falling apart around us. "

These types of tragedies are the foul truth behind conservative lower taxes rhetoric while at the same time money continues to be wasted every day that never gets questioned by the right..

EDIT.  Big parts of the Netherlands are seated below sea level but the last serious flood that took lives was in the fifties. This is not about controlling the weather, it's about caring enough about all Americans to make sure they have the best protection when nature strikes, about having a government where all the people count, not just the privileged few

  8. The "under Bush" part of your question implies that Bush has some control over the path of this hurricane - or for some obscure reason it is Bush's fault.

Perhaps you think if there was a democrat in the Whitehouse, these natural disasters wouldn't happen?

  9. It might be.  The good news is that Lousiana now has a Republican Governor who has already asked for help, unlike the former Dem who refused to ask for help until it was way too late.  And of course the Federal Government cannot help until asked.

  10. justright was just WRONG to blame the "right wing conservatives for failing to not have the protection during Katrima. There were a lot of stories printed then that would be hard to find now.

One was about The Washington Fed Gov giving New Or a few million dollars for that but the  powers that were there then (I don't remember how many years ago) used the money instead to build a gamblilng casino on Lake Ponchitrain. More profit that way.

I can't believe there has ever been any "right wingers" in N.O. who could get the solid Dem party to do anything they did not want to do.

  11. Hang in there Richy boy, you'll be a man before your mother will.

  12. Yes. The sad part about this is how the levee's are only built 1/5th of the way. They HAD 3 years to rebuild and strengthen the levees and now a second storm is going to hit.

They better learn after this storm.

  13. Richard... What do you want Bush to do ? Raise his hands like Jesus did in the bible and command the storm to cease ?

  14. Since when was it the President's responsibility to control the weather?

Shut up and take some responsibility for yourself... it's not the government's responsibility to care for everyone.

  15. Do you know how dumb it looks when you make a statement like that. George Bush is not responsible for the storm or did you forget that he is moron.   Louisiana has a new governor who went through the right steps to gert Federal help and the mayor of NO isn't stupid enough to do the same thing as last time. If you care about New Orleans get your boots on and get ready to help.
