is it going to be a bit mickey mouse? Campo got it right, it is only 3 teams who have any chance of winning, and we are so far in front of NZ and the Poms we are a shoo in, it smacks of the yanks, World Series Baseball, all the NRL sides would make the semi's!!! and a couple would make the final

  1. I agree. There are only 3 main teams. Aussie,NZ and the poms. Aussie have won it more times than anyone can poke a stick at. I'm a Kiwi but even I know... there's no beating the Aussies in league. We might win the odd game, but I think "h**l Froze over" the last time we won a series.

  2. for all helll's sake australia will win coz they have got the best team in the world

  3. Australia will win. If they don't then England. But I think they will be the two teams in the Final for sure

  4. the USA will win the World Cup...someone get me another beer please?

  5. Yes I think there are only 3 or 4 teams in real contention for the cup with Australia massive favourites. You never know a whole string of injurys may come about and that might spice things up a bit but not much. I think there will probably be some upsets but again Australia will probably flog everyone. Still, ill be watching it.

  6. Ken oath..      :',-)

  7. whats campo know, in rugby only 4 teams have won it and only 4 can win it, Aus,Nzl,Eng,Saf. League world cup will be more quality than rugby, the islander teams are red hot.

Id rather watch the league world cup games than union WC

And the World Series Baseball was named after a Chicago paper called the "The World" it was the sponsor of the first series in the early 1900's and the name just stuck, but all MLB teams are a mix of players from different countries these days

  8. Australia will win but NZ, England are certainties for 2nd, Tonga PNG and Samoa will cause some upsets.

  9. 'Course not. There is only one team as far as ability and players and that is the Australian side. The poms and kiwis will be the best of the also rans. It is a joke when some of these sides can pick players on very tenuous grounds (like mum went to Ireland and I was conceived over there). Other apocryphal stories include running ads in ethnic based newspapers to draw on players.

Rugby league itself is not a joke but this league world cup. With rugby, cricket and football there are a number of teams who can win. Barring an outbreak of botulism in the Australian camp, the Aussies would have to be at unbackable odds.

  10. Make the World Cup fairdinkum and enter an Australian Aboriginal side. That would assure Australia 1-2.

  11. about time some one clued on to this!

    star for you!

in some ways i blame the state of origin for this...... for example: how many players were born in NZ now playing for either QLD or NSW? they threw away there loyalty to there birth nation! think if any NZ born player wasn't allowed to play in aussie rep sides, and could only play for there birth country, how domminant would NZ be?

they would give us a real run for our money, if not thrash us every time!

    Tonie Carroll-NZ Born

    Karmicheal Hunt-NZ Born

    Israel Falau-NZ( I think?)

    Petero Cinoniceva-Fijian Born

    Brad Thorn-NZ Born

    Hasem El Masri-Lebanon Born

    willie mason-NZ Born

    timana tahu- NZ Born

thats just a few examples of players abandoning there country of origin who have played state of origin in the last couple of years!

as far as im concerned the world cup is not a genuine world cup, as the only genuine contender is australia!

EDIT....... bill p knows what he's on about!
