I know it's only a "prototype".

  1. It isnt even a prototype now... the 711 is converted back to Su-35.

But the Su-35 stands chance to be an operational fighter.

  2. No.  The Russian Air Force has no plans, and no money to start replacing its fleet of (more than still capable) Su27s.  There are no seriously interested foreign buyers-and with rising fuel costs hurting smaller countries' militaries, unlikely to be any.

  3. I'll call Medvedev and ask him today

  4. I don't think the SU-37 will become operational. Actually, i think Russians have gotten confused. lol! They are building or may be have already built the MiG 1.42 and then there is the talk of the reverse-delta winged SU-47 'Berkut'. Then, they decided to do away with the reverse-delta wing design. Now they have gone back and are planning to start from scratch! I wonder when they are going to make an operational F-22 Raptor-competing 5th Generation fighter plane?

All said and done, if and when they do launch a Sukhoi competitor, i assume it will be better than F-22 Raptor! Sukhois just ROCK!

  5. Nope. The Russians have already started designing a new 5th gen fighter.

They claim that it will be superior to the F22 in every way.

    We'll see.
