Question:

Will the Wii get more expensive or cheaper as Christmas gets closer?

My son wants a Wii before Christmas. He is diligently saving up money to buy one and is afraid that they'll be hard ot find around Christmas or will be an outrageous amount of money again - being sold on eBay. Should he try to buy it now or wait until Christmas gets closer, sales come on, and the latest and greatest toys get all the attention?

  1. As Christmas gets nearer, the Wii will get more and more expensive EVERYWHERE each day. Ebay, Best Buy, Circuit City, Amazon, ANYWHERE!

If you are planning on getting it for someone, or for yourself, I recommend getting it now! Before it's almost $1,000!

    [=

  2. No it will stay at 249.99 Nintendo has no plans to lower the wii's price.

  3. As far the the MSRP, it will remain the same. Nintendo will not raise or lower the price by Christmas.

However, if you go on ebay or some other site thats similar, you will most certainly be paying higher prices as Christmas gets closer and closer. The Wii will still be in low supply and high demand by Christmas. Your best bet is to get one as soon as possible.

  4. they are still incredibly hard to find and it is even worse around christmas so you should try to buy one around october if you want to get it as a christmas gift : )

  5. the price will stay the same.  the wii is still hard to find and as the holidays come around they will get rarer

  6. OK...

Neither, the will stay the same price, at $249.99 during the holiday season.

Yes, the will DEFINITELY be hard to find around Christmas, A LOT harder than they are now and they still are fairly hard to find.

Yes, they will be more expensive on eBay, especially around the holiday season.

As far as when to buy the Wii is entirely up to you and your son. It will definitely get a lot harder to find a Wii around Christmas so you might want to start looking now.

My suggestion is call your local Video Game Store or Electronic Store and ask when their shipments come in. GameStop usually says something like, "They come in when they come in" but shipments usually come Sunday. If they do know when shipments come, ask how many. I've heard that some places only give around 3 Wiis sometimes so if that is the case, get there EARLY or wait a week or something. You could also try after the Christmas rush, but I doubt your son wants to wait that long.

So... try as soon as you can. If your son has the money go now. They will definitely get harder to find like always.

I REALLY hope this helps. I had do to plan all of this out myself so, it feels good to help someone else with the same problem.

  7. If you're talking about the retail price, that isn't going to fluctuate at all. Nintendo sets the price, not the retailer. Nobody can have a "Wii sale" with a price cut on Wiis, nor can they inflate the price to take advantage of desperate buyers. They CAN, however, force you to purchase a "bundle" that can include as many as seven games. The price of the bundle will not be any more or less than each item individually, so you're technically not getting ripped off, but the retailer has guaranteed that they'll make a LOT more money on the sale.

If you're talking about the eBay and used-merchandise online market, I'm sure that the prices are going to skyrocket again this year. People are going crazy over Wii Fit, and apparently there STILL aren't enough Wiis for everyone who wants one.

If your son really wants a Wii, he should buy it now. They are going to be impossible to find during the holiday season, and I'm sure he'd rather spend less money for a very early Christmas present than spend twice or three times as much just for the novelty of having it for Christmas.

  8. Wii is hard to find any day. Online resellers take advantage of this and stock up. That further depletes the stock on shelves. The retail prcie for Wii won't change but finding it in time for the holidays will be frustrating.

If expecting a sale is your only reason to wait till the last minute, then please don't. I have not seen one occassion when the Wii might have gone on sale and I doubt if it will.

  9. The basic price should stay the same, but expect it to be VERY hard to find in stores. I'd suggest you buy one now online (using Amazon, not EBay), then have him pay you back the difference. This way, he should have it by Christmas, and you won't have to go into the mall on Black Friday, fighting through riot-like crowds just to snag one.

Also, aroudn XMas time, there will be sales & bundle offers, but considering the inevitable short supply, just order everythign seperately now.

  10. more than likely it will be as rare as a dodo.

meaning Ebay sellers will be able to charge any cost.

if you want  ot be sure he cna get one now, maybe subsidize some of the cost to get one now while there still in stock, and have him pay you back on the lead up ot Xmas.

As they are such a hot product they wont be in January or Xmas sales, theats usually reserved for stock that needs ot be sold off, n wii will have sold off in november unless Nintendo ramp up manufacture.
