  1. Yes it will sooner than you think .

Within 30 years the US will be over 50% atheist agnostic .

In 50 it will be 80% there will be superstitious hangers on for perhaps another 3 to 400 years but it will be at 100% soon enough .

    2 reasons .

    1 - CERN

    2 - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/40030...

  2. I don't think that will ever happen.

  3. NEVER WAS...NEVER IS...NEVER WILL!

The atheists are very minority enemies of God!

  4. nope.

people have been trying to wipe out Christianity for centuries, unsuccessfully.

The Bible says that Christianity will never really die.

  5. I very much doubt it. There are always some people that will believe. However, I do think atheism will increase, due to education.

I also believe that the current religions (christianity, islam, etc) will change in such a way that you can't rightly call them the same names over time.

  6. I doubt it but I predict an increase.

  7. No.

  8. Perhaps 99%, but I doubt it will ever hit 100% - there will always be a few traditionalists or lunatic fringe out there.

As to how it will happen, it will simply be a natural progression from where we are now, and continuing the metaphysical evolution of man from the earliest days of animism, through polytheism, monotheism, and so on.  Religion at this point is more and more of an anachronism, and will continue the process of fading away that has already begun.

  9. There'll be agnostics too!

  10. No. I am a living sacrifice for Jesus Christ.

    I am Christian. :D 6 thumbs down. I am Christian. 6 thumbs down :D

    LOL. Grow up.

  11. Give it another few millenia when people realize that the "end" Christians seem to dread so is simply something that can be fixed with Science.

  12. nope.

  13. no, come to where I live it's like going back in time 100 years. (central pa)

  14. No, I don't think it will become 100% atheistic. The idea of a black cat causing bad luck by crossing a person's path has been around for over 5000 years and it hasn't disappeared. Most people couldn't tell you were that superstition came from.

So no it is not a necessity that religion will disappear.

  15. Excellent question. I believe that it may well happen. As people realise more and more that religion, as we have known it up to now, is becoming less relevant, because it is mystical, not factual, confusing, misleading, conflicting, etc etc ( wish I could get into a debate here), so people will abandon it. I think it goes for all religions. Eventually, we will live only by reality.

  16. It will happen when everyone on earth opens their mind.

  17. God will not allow it again. Once the world becomes close to Godless again, the Second Coming of Christ will happen and the end of mortality on this earth will be complete.

  18. Not until we go extinct or leave the planet entirely. Religion is too well-established in the gene pool to disappear. There is a strong biological need for humans to explain and understand the world and our existence. That need developed in us long before we had the benefits of the scientific process to aid us in explaining things, thus religion was able to gain a strong foothold.

We will leave earth before religion dies out, I'm pretty sure of it, unless I'm greatly underestimating how long it will be until we colonize other worlds. Religion would take thousands of years to die out completely.

  19. It is much more likely you got your numbers bass ackwards. How about 0.001%. There are two factors in play right now that has atheism retreating and more and more backed into a corner. Either one by itself would eventually have atheism where it has virtually disappeared. Science has atheism stumbling. The Baha'i Faith has atheism on the ropes, but together they are delivering a virtual one-two punch that will have atheism flat on the canvas with the referee calling it a TKO.

    ************************

The Jews await the Messiah, the Christians the return of Christ, the Moslems the Mahdi, the Buddhists the fifth Buddha, the Zoroastrians Shah Bahram, the Hindus the reincarnation of Krishna, and the Atheists - a better social organization! Baha'u'llah represents all these, and thus destroys the rivalries and the enmities of the different religions; reconciles them in their primitive purity, and frees them from the corruption of dogmas and rites.

    (Abdu'l-Baha, Tablets of Abdu'l-Baha v1, p. vii)

    *****************

Religion and Science are inter-twined with each other and cannot be separated. These are the two wings with which humanity must fly. One wing is not enough. Every religion which does not concern itself with Science is mere tradition, and that is not the essential. Therefore science, education and civilization are most important necessities for the full religious life.

    (Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 28)

If any religion rejected Science and knowledge, that religion was false. Science and Religion should go forward together; indeed, they should be like two fingers of one hand.

    (Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 70)

Sciences of former ages and philosophies of the past are useless today.

    (Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith - Abdu'l-Baha Section, p. 224)

The fourth teaching of Bahá'u'lláh is the agreement of religion and science. God has endowed man with intelligence and reason whereby he is required to determine the verity of questions and propositions. If religious beliefs and opinions are found contrary to the standards of science they are mere superstitions and imaginations; for the antithesis of knowledge is ignorance, and the child of ignorance is superstition. Unquestionably there must be agreement between true religion and science. If a question be found contrary to reason, faith and belief in it are impossible and there is no outcome but wavering and vacillation.

    (Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith - Abdu'l-Baha Section, p. 239)

[ Note the following paragraph was written in 1890. Einstein was born in 1879. -- BKW]

Strange and astonishing things exist in the earth but they are hidden from the minds and the understanding of men. These things are capable of changing the whole atmosphere of the earth and their contamination would prove lethal. (14)

It is noteworthy that in 1911 in Paris in the course of a conversation with Viscount Arawaka, the Japanese Ambassador to Spain, 'Abdu'l-Bahá spoke these words:

Scientific discoveries have increased material civilization. There is in existence a stupendous force, as yet, happily, undiscovered by man. Let us supplicate God, the Beloved, that this force be not discovered by science until spiritual civilization shall dominate the human mind. In the hands of men of lower material nature, this power would be able to destroy the whole earth.'(15)

In a previous volume[1] there is a reference to the words of Bahá'u'lláh concerning the discovery of alchemy, the transmutation of elements, which He links with the coming of a great calamity for the whole world. It is known that the transmutation of elements is now possible through certain nuclear processes.

  20. That is what the world is striving for. Only then will we have Utopia.  Many will say it's impossible because stupid people breed more than smart people and it is stupid people who are religious.  However, only smart people can cause genocide of the stupid, religious types.  However again, smart people tend to be good people because their intelligence leaves them content and happy.  However again again, the enlightened rulers of the future will realize it is NOT evil to eliminate religion because it will be for the greater good of society.  So...

Yes, religion, along with global warming, etc,. will be wiped out one day.  Look at what we are all using right now.  The Internet.  That's testament to a civilization moving towards Utopia.  The movement will continue after we're long gone and enlightenment will win over stupidity.

  21. Not as long as God exists (which He does) :o)

  22. we can only hope

  23. I doubt it. Can you imagine Islamic countries giving up their religion? It's their life, their culture, their everything.

  24. Not while I'm here.

  25. Only God truly knows the answer.

  26. ESSENTIALLY YES.  THERE WILL BE NO BELIEVERS IN CHRIST.

After the rapture there will be no Christians left in the world.  But seeds will have already been planted in people by that time.  So faith will develop in them.  And those saved during this time will be just that for the final coming of everyone from heaven to rule the earth.  I'm not an expert on Revelation, but this is the general happening.

  27. Sorry but in order for that to happen we would have to kill off all the stupid people

  28. Very possibly 95% to 99%, but probably not 100%.  There still exists a Flat Earth Society, after all.

How will it happen?  Improved communications (like we are using here) is one way.  Many people remain Christians because they are unaware of the arguments in favor of other points of view.  If you grew up in a small town where the Christians clearly dominated, you might literally be afraid to buck the trend.  But once the big city and the rest of the world is at your fingertips with the Internet, a lot of things change.

Not only do I believe Christianity will become a living anachronism, I think it already has.  There's a lot of people hanging onto it mostly for social reasons, not theological ones.

  29. Not to sound rude, but I sure hope not.

I don't think that the world being Atheistic would be a problem, it wouldn't be horrible or anything, I just don't like the thought that everyone would move beyond our wonderful delusions :) LOL

Having belief in something gives people hope, it comforts them during hard times, I know that many Atheists want to do away with religion, and all "delusions" but even they have to admit that sometimes these delusions can help people.

  30. I can only hope.

  31. No there will always be a rump that requires superstition to support them!

Science has shown atheists have a higher intelligence than people with a strong religious faith. The difference is 5.8 points according to findings in developmental psychology!!!

More members of the "intellectual elite" considered themselves atheists than the national average.

Only 7 percent of members of the American National Academy of Sciences believed in God. Whilst only 3.3 percent believed in God in the UK’s Royal Society.

Several Gallup poll studies of the general population have shown that those with higher IQ’s tend not to believe in God."

Evolution in action with Christians getting left behind like the monkeys and apes before them!!!

But I am sure that many of the "left behind" species are perfectly happy as they are and that there are a good many humans that would not mind trading places with them!!!
