I'm taking it as a carry on, but I know they'll scan it and just want to make sure it won't damage the pictures I have on my memory card.

  1. Not quite like the good old days of carrying film, eh fhotoace? I used to carry an OLD roll of 1000 ISO film along with my regular bag of 160 and 400, just so I didn't get an argument from the airport security people when I demanded a hand-inspection. That poor roll probably went through the x-ray machine a couple of hundred times. I should have developed it just to see...

  2. No.

This is how the pros carry their equipment ... carry on.

I fly over 200,000 miles a year and carry six to eight memory cards with me at all times.  Do not fear ... your memory cards are safe.
