  1. Probably because of the kind of people who live there -- lots of celebrities and weathy folks.

  2. Yes. The Calif people are mostly movie stars and expired celebrities who could still get stuff done.

Besides, no developer would want to drive them away from their lots so they could build expensive condos on them.

All animals are equal but some are more equal than others.

    You get the drift...

  3. I would assume so. It's been two years since Katrina. Some areas still look like the storm hit yesterday. NOT TO MENTION the waist-high waters plaguing some New Orleans streets as we speak. So....sure.....it will. I think everyone (including the Prez) knows that! And we all know it wasn't about who had more insurance--it's about what racial mix your neighborhood had; whether or not you get back up and running. I find disdain in people who always have something to say about New Orleanians not doing things for themselves (when they're potentially 100s or 1000s of miles away from home & no way to return) if they haven't been in their situation. Imagine coming back to a moldy home of your belongings when you thought you'd only be gone over night or for a few days. Everything destroyed; the life you knew washed away by some stinky b*+ch named Katrina. Where do you go from there?? Insurance companies are denying your claims...the local officials are playing around with getting the aid to the citizens--don't speak ill on what you don't know about. [Yes several of you who responded before me--I'm referring to YOU!].

  4. Yes, all the wealthy people in California will be taken care of...the poor in La. will continue to be ignored............

  5. Yes, New Orleans is still waiting.

  6. You bet.  All the burned-out multi-million dollar movie star homes will be rebuilt in a matter of months in time for the next round of fires, when they will be burned down again and rebuilt yet again, while New Orleans continues to fall apart and sink into the ground.

But don't forget that constant multi-million dollar movie star home rebuilding helps to keep the construction industry alive.

  7. We all think of Louisiana as the only area devastated by Katrina, but forget how much damage was done in Mississippi.

We seem to prefer bad news to good, and ignore that rebuilding in Mississippi is going much better than in Louisiana - over $1 billion in rebuilding funds have been distributed to people in MS who lost their homes. That's worth celebrating a little bit.

  8. Probably so.  The people in California probably had more insurance.

    Isn't having money just great!!!!

  9. Actually Cheffy, you're wrong.  They won't rebuild their own homes.  They are rich, so they pay more taxes and have more insurance, so that'll take care of rebuilding their homes and towns.

    Nice try though.

  10. More non-rich people in California lost their homes than rich people.  Remember, Malibu is just one of the area's affected by fire.

With that said, the med home value in the SD area is around $650k.  Yes they had insurance and will rebuild.

  11. Without a doubt.  They will take on the responsibility themselves and get it done instead of waiting for something to happen for them.

  12. Yes. California will be able to be rebuilt without a lot of the problems facing the South. Fire is what is the is doing the damage in California. Not only is the South having to rebuilt, the flood control systems have to be fixed first, then you have a problem of mold and other health factors that must be addressed before major rebuilding can be done. Then you have the Southern people who have lost their homes sitting around waiting on someone else to FIX, REPAIR, or PROVIDE them a new home, even tho most did not have homeowners insurance. Those who did have insurance are well ahead in the rebuilding of their homes and are actively working on rebuilding. So if the area flooded by Katrina is to be rebuild BEFORE the area being destroyed by fire in California, then the PEOPLE who where flood need to get off their butts and get busy helping and stop waiting on a hand out. And before everyone starts up on me..I AM FROM LOUISIANA and suffered from Katrina as well. I just didn't sit around waiting and wanting others to pay my way.

  13. of course... white and rich against black and poor!!! who will win???
