  1. I have been stocking up on insulating foam sealant and I will stand ready to fill the black hole on a minutes notice.

  2. heavy!

maybe they finish the thing and have it available for full power testing just in time for 12/12/2012

    spookie

    no?

    .

  3. I just want to be wearing my seatbelt.

  4. This is a science question and I would answer it but since this is under the political question section I can not legally answer it but good luck with the whole black hole and everything.

  5. 1 in 50,000 chance. That's better odds than the powerball lottery. Go ahead and buy the Lamborgini.

  6. Doubtful. Otherwise, if it did, the Chicago-based atom-smasher would've done us all in years ago. :0)

  7. Responsible, yes, but who knows what will happen.  According to "experts" the atomic bomb was going to set our atmosphere on fire, instead it just obliterates millions of people and slowly kills of millions more, what a deal!

  8. I assume that you are talking about the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) being built in between Switzerland and France.  This device cannot generate a black hole.   We know this because the intentional high speed collision of particles that will take place in the LHC are already accidentally occurring in space on a continuous basis.   Even as you read this, cosmic radiation in space is slamming particles against each other with greater energy than that used by the LHC.   Despite these regular multitude of particle collisions, black-holes are not appearing all around us.   Nature teaches us that these high energy collisions do NOT produce black holes.

  9. Possible but unlikely. If not, I'll see you all at the singularity!

  10. And this is a "civics participation" question why?

  11. I don't know but this is insane!

  12. No, it's one of those web rumors that mean nothing.

  13. It will kill us all before it reaches the strength to redirect and absorb light so we will never know the answer if it goes that far. It is possible but I think there are many more disasters that would sooner happen than that. I could see damage to the magnetosphere of earth causing severe gravitational anomolies and possibly problems with the Van Allen belts that might lead to gamma radiation hitting earth.
