Question:

Will the auto lease company seek a judgment against me?

I have 14 months remaining on an auto lease. I am ending the lease early because I'm moving overseas. I will have some bank accounts and other money accounts in the US though. Is there any way for these accounts to be located by the judgment creditor? I am trying to sell the car, but the payoff and book value have a difference of about $6000. I've had excellent credit, up until I do this that is.

  1. You may want to post under a different topic: legal/credit since this is more renting in regard to real estate

That said: if they get a judgment, could an investigator find the accounts? Quite possible, harder in the fact that they can not subpoena you to supply your information since you will be over seas, but there are firms that for a percentage try and track down accounts,

Once they find the accounts they can attach the judgment to those accounts right away without warring/notice to you

  2. Yes, they will seek a judgement against you for the following:

    1.  The ramaining balance of the lease term, plus.

    2.  Any overage in miles

    3.  Any excessive damages.
