  1. The mortgage mess has been a benefit to no one except the agents who placed the bad paper -- and some of them are facing criminal charges.  The Congress in general, and Republicans in particular, have nothing to do with it; it arose from bad evaluation by underwriters of mortgages sold as securities.  Ultimately, the borrowers who created the bad paper will lose, as they should; you don't borrow money unless you have a reasonable expectation of being able to repay it.  Intelligent lenders will negotiate with problem borrowers to do workouts; in exchange, say, for an increased interest rate, increased payment amounts arising from resets might be deferred.

  2. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for oneself?  Greedy banks & mortage companies did not twist ppl's arms to purchase homes they could not afford.  AFFORD is the key word.

  3. Republican Banks and Mortage companies ???????????/

    Hmmm, never heard of those.

Are they something like a hard on?

  4. Why should we not hold the greedy American homeowners responsible for their actions?

Personally, I oppose any kind of bailout that does not force people to accept responsibility for their own poor financial decisions.

  5. The average american home owner got themselves into their own foreclosure mess.  It was known that those ARM loans were not a good idea and could go south on you real quick...People used them anyway..Good call.  The government shouldn't bail people out when they make a bad business call.  This is a capitalist country.
