Question:

Will the board of governors fee (BOG) cover housing fees as well?

I'm either going to a University or Community college and I can't decide between the two because going to a community college is a much less expensive option and I can always just transfer over.

The community college I would like to go to has housing, and I got a letter saying that I was awarded the board of governors fee waiver which will pay for my enrollment. Does this also cover housing and meal fees as well?

  1. will not cover housing and meal fees

  2. No. The Board of Governor's Fee Waiver covers only enrollment/registration costs at a California Community College. This includes only the "per unit" cost of the courses. Your cost of living, books, supplies and other personal expenses will come from the grant money that you are eligible to receive.

Also, you should know that the BOG is only good at community colleges in California. When you go to a University, the cost of tuition will come right out of your grant check before it is sent to you.
