  1. An engine can run many years and miles under normal conditions, but most wear occurs from the quick change in RPM, this causes taper in the cylinder, which is just wear from the heat and friction in the top part of the cylinder. Excessive RPM will also wear the engines bearings (rod and crankshaft mains) as the load and RPM increases. If your engine red lines at 6500 RPM, try to stay well below that, say 5000 max and you should avoid any sudden failure. Also keep the engine oil level  full and do not exceed 3000-5000 between changes. A good rule of thumb is when the oil starts to turn dark, and when smeared in between your fingers it appears black, change it. As the mileage increases the period between oil changes decreases, due to looser clearances (piston and ring) referred to as blow by.

  2. not likely.  A more reasonable senario would be hurting a pedestrian or motorcyclist and your insurance rates ans the tickets pile up

  3. If you are driving it harder and faster than it is designed, it will wear out faster.

  4. Depends..... If your always making jackrabbit starts then you will prematurely wear engine parts..... If you make normal regular take offs from the light and get up to speed which is a few miles an hour over the speed limit then no..... Its the fast take offs and excessive speeding that wears an engine out... Plus speeding and excessively fast starts beats the transmmission up as well as CV joints...   Its also not safe....

  5. It will hurt the whole car.
