Computers been acting funny and looking to reformat it, but my my computer original boot disk and restore disk dont seem to be working. Since those are not working was wondering if i could reuse the cdkey with a fresh install of the same version of windows but without using the manufacturer's disks.

  1. Yeah, it'll work.  But why not just use the CD key that came with the copy of Windows?

Nighthawk: What?  Why are you trying to say a CD key won't work with another disc for the same program?  There won't be any problems at all with it.  Stop trying to look like you know what you're talking about when you don't.

  2. Hello from the Tech

The chances are very slim.  You will need to contact the vendor and get a new disk with the same properties.  Each version will only bundle a vender count of the CD key in a file it will search and not be able to locate that key.

To Striker well I have only built about 1000 computers and know that if the system is loaded with a vendors CD such as Dell or HP and depending on the year version the CD key will not match and before they format this drive and end up with a none loadable computer they should contact the vendor and get the proper version which will be free if it is damaged.    So to the asker I just say be careful.  Have a gr8 day.

PS you did not even answer the question this person asked....lmao. They have the key and want to try it with another disk.  Mr Big mouth, I am at least answering the proper question.
