Will the change in the two year UK working/ holiday visa have any affect on my SA passport?

My passport expires a couple of months before my visa does. I was told by my travel agent to just renew it six months before the time, but I am worried that the new rule of no UK working/ holiday visas between Britain and SA from August will somehow influence it. Will it?
