  1. Not at all, For every one person that Yahoo lose, they can add twice as many. Yahoo is really coming along in a lot of their services. Many people will miss Yahoo. And will come back.

  2. UPDATE:

There is always an affect when companies fail to provide a popular service. BUT in the scheme of the entirety of the company (which has 100+ services), the Y!360 effect will be minimal by itself. YET if lumped together with other Yahoo problems, well, the overall picture probably isn't looking good to many people. I believe the company is in the midst of a turnaround process, so it may take some time before a determination can be made on Yahoo's viability.

Yahoo! 360 did not have anywhere near the number of users as other popular social networking services like MySpace and Facebook. However, if the new social networking product they release in early 2008 is way more functional than 360, they may be able to make some gains in this market.

Some people have left 360 already for other services like Multiply.com and Vox.com because of anger over poor customer service and 360 glitches. Others just are resistant to change. But again, the number of users of 360 weren't all that large to begin with. Some may be back; others may not.

Yet Y!360 is still a beta ("testing") product, so it was less likely to stick around than other Yahoo services anyway. They need to compete, provide more features, and 360 badly needed an overhaul... a new system platform is necessary, especially since 360's connections with other Yahoo services have worked poorly. If the new product works out, they will gain even more users. If not, then that will be a huge failure for the company, as they would have tried this about 3 times already (Y!360, Y!Mash, and whatever this new service will be called).

Yahoo stock has dropped because Internet companies reliant on Internet advertising were predicted to have trouble this year overall. They need to expand their revenue sources and investors don't have much faith in that probability...yet. Ninety percent of the company's revenue comes from Internet advertising at the moment.
