Question:

Will the court notify my work that I was not needed for jury duty?

I stayed home from work today because I was called in to jury duty. But when I got to the courthouse, they told me I wasn't needed and that I should have called last night to find that out. I am wondering if my boss will find out I stayed home for nothing. Anyone know?

  1. You receive a summons for Jury duty and it usually lasts two weeks. That's what you give your employer. When you are on Jury Duty you set and read or watch TV or play cards for 8 hours sometimes for the whole two weeks. Depending on 'luck' you might sit on a jury 3 times or none. You have to be there, though. Pay is not much. There is no notification sent as to who was seated and who wasn't. So you got away with this one. 8~)

  2. sounds like you were on federal grand jury duty. they dont notify your place of employment.  of course if your boss finds out you stayed out of work for no reason. he will probably kick your butt out the door.  i would.

  3. No, that's up to you. If you had been selected as a juror, the court would have provided you with documentation for you to take to your employer.  If the court gave you something in writing stated you were not selected, you can take that to your employer.
