Question:

Will the current terrorist scare in the UAE stop people going to Dubai?

It has been announced that the Foreign Office are putting the highest risk category against trips to the UAE. It is so Europeanised and Americanised in the midst of a surrounding area of backward Muslim nations that it is amazing and gratifying nothing has yet happened. Will there be a massive reaction to this news?

  1. Well thanks for that... My flight was booked two days ago.. and I wasn't worried as I have been to Dubai before, but now I am..! I'm also flying alone and only a teen...

wow... never been this worried before..! lol

What scare is it? Have they found terrorist plots..? =[

  2. i think it is a possible target due to the western lifestyle conflicting with the islamic culture, and surprised that only now is the highest risk being put in place.   the authorities wont like it as it will affect business maybe thats why they have waited this long. there is high security therebut its undercover, my friends hubbie was in cid , they wear th e local dress and u wouldnt know he was to look at him look sjust like any other  thirtysomething bloke there.

  3. There are seven emirates in the UAE, Dubai being one of them.  To date nothing has happened here.  You are more likely to get run over in Dubai trying to cross the roads then you are getting blown up.

  4. doubt it.................  im going

hey have you stayed at the jumeirah beach ?

  5. There hasn't been any real reaction here to this warning. Business as usual!

  6. Most American cities are far more dangeorus places than anywhere in the UAE (or the Middle East, for that matter).  I don't think Western expats will pay any attention to the alert.  It is probably related to George Bush's recent visit to Europe and his attempt to get support for more economic sanctions against Iran.

  7. I have no idea, but being pregnant and living and working in Dubai I am a bit worried. My husband works at one of the landmarks so I am not very happy to hear this.

I just hope the government will release a statement to let us know what is going on and to reassure us.

  8. I only answer this question because it is the only way of contacting you following your answer to my unrequited love question earlier

Your answer made me roll on the floor with laughter because you are absolutely right!

When you said it is better to focus on others' less fortunate than 'gibbering' on about unrequited love I almost heard my great aunt talking to me - thanks!

    I mean it.

I completely agree with you. Email me. I'd like to talk and to be spoken to.

As to your question:   hmmm   I am reasonably intelligent and I am a graduate but I have read your question six times and I don't understand it.

    Which Foreign Office?

Are you annoyed at Europeans or Americans or Muslims or all three?

    Or none?

I honestly cannot for the life of me work out what your question means

Anyway:  I loved your answer to mine. Email me
