Question:

Will the departure of Strahan and Umenyiora's season-ending injury prevent the giants from repeating?

Considering the fact that the front 3 were primarily responsible for the win in SB 42, will losing 2/3 of that line prevent them from winning the SB, or even their division?

I probably spelled umenyiora wrong.

  1. i thought they were going have a hard time with uminyoura but now without him they are going to have a really hard time making the playoffs especially being in the nfc east were all of the teams in that division improved in the off-season.

  2. I think the chances of a repeat were slim to begin with. Now with them gone they would need a miracle, but then again, that's what happened last year.

  3. Nah, they're subpar talent will be enough to prevent them from repeating. They were lucky to even win it all last year.

  4. I honestly thought they have no chance last year. I would have ranked them about 10th most likely to win the SB last year.

So i guess anything is possible. But with Dallas only getter better, and their tough division--- getting into the playoffs isnt going to be an easy task this year.

  5. No not at all. They had no chance of repeating anyways.Last year they were kind of a below the radar team. This season everyone is going to play them much harder.

  6. I like how this question just became a "Bash-the-Super Bowl Champs" party. I'm not talking about you, but about the answers: "they weren't that good last year, they were lucky and they had no chance to repeat ANYWAY"

Technically, only one team in the league has a chance to repeat and that's the champs. Those chances are slim no matter who the champ is and they did get slimmer. But last year, the Giants fought threw injury and came out on top.

Osi is one of, if not, our top player on defense but people seem to forget that NY's defensive success really stems from Spagnuolo's scheme. Not to say the Giants d-line wasn't talented, but his scheme allows the d-line to be more aggressive and puts pressure on the back 7 to hold ground. Nobody knew who Justin Tuck was until Spag got there. More than likely Kiwanuka will move down to replace Osi and the title defense will start from there.

Also, if the Giants dont have a great season, this won't be the only reason why.

  7. They seem to be in serious trouble on the Dline so look for them to make a move in free agency or even a possible trade for an established DE

  8. I would say it will have a huge impact!!

  9. With them both the Giants still would be struggling to make the playoffs.

  10. It's going to be tough.  But it is also tough for ANY team to repeat.  The Patriots are lucky because they cheat and play in a JV division of football.

Love the haters...read it and weep lucky ones.

Tampa - Beat the #3 ranked defense in the NFL

Dallas - made TO cry..and extended dallas's steak of 'no playoff wins' to 12 years.

Green bay - most overrated team in the NFC,

    Patriots - enough said.

  11. This doesn't help them, that's for sure.

But honestly, I didn't believe that they were in a position to repeat to begin with.  The Giants captured lightning in a bottle last year and Giant fans should enjoy the victory and title for what it was.

This is a new year, and the Giants should be proud to be known as "Last years champions"

  12. They cant even wint he division and hardly get into the wildcard. They are screwed! mahahahah

  13. I think their chances of repeating were pretty slim to start with. Losing half of their dominant D Line certainly doesn't help. Their D will not be the same.

I see them struggling to make the playoffs.
