Sunday I left work early to go to the ER because of a PAINFUL Urinary tract infection. They gave me a prescription to medicine which I was unable to get on that Sunday because the pharmacies were closed, as well as on Monday due to it being Memorial Day. I did work Monday and Tuesday althought I was still in a little bit of pain. Which Tuesday I was so busy I didnt have time to get my prescription ONCE AGAIN. But today, I started getting SEVERE back pains on the right side of my back, just below my ribs which carried all the way around to my lower abdomen. I started getting Dizzy, nauseated and what not so I called in to work, made sure to fill my prescription and I took a pill. I am wanting to wait until Tomorrow to go to the doctor, just so i know if the pills are working or not. Will the doctor write a note for TODAY if i go in tomorrow? If I let him know i couldnt go to work due to my infection?

  1. Doctors document the truth.  The note can verify that you were ill, and that you had an office visit the next day.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

  2. most offices will.  Usually, they will write a note covering your entire sickness, and what the Dr recommends, such as light duty, bed rest, etc.

  3. you shouldnt have a problem with the note- HOWEVER as a fellow female and one who has experiences hundreds of these d**n infections in her life- you have now let your bladder infection go into your kidneys- please when you go to the doctor tell them you waited to take the medicine and had abdomen and back pain- kidney infections are treated with a diffrerent antibiotic and left untreated can make you really sick- please tell your doctor

  4. The doctor isn't likely to "cover" for you through a note.  He must give the dates on which he saw you.  He can give the FIRST date he saw you for the infection which should take care of the issues with your employer.  It's fine to tell the doctor that you were unable to get your prescription filled but DON'T volunteer any information about it to your boss.  Doctor-patient confidentiality can sometimes be a blessing.

  5. Most doctors will give you a note if needed. If your getting pains in your back and abdomen, it's possible you now have a kidney infection or at least a deeper tract infection. I would at the very least call your doctor and let him know about your symptoms and mention you may need a note for work.
