when i heard about that..i was like "oh sh*t!" but then...nothing can turn the whole earth "into a charred lump of cosmic nothingness".  something probably more than that can probably make a huge hole like the grand canyon or that asteroid hit in arizona. we have nothing to worry about.

Let's just hope this experiment doesn't blow us up!! I'm pretty sure the people making made sure it's like somewhere way out! like where the atomic bomb first went off. I seriously don't think they'd be dumb enough to make it too powerful to kill us! At least let's hope not!

No, it won't.  The Large Hadron Collider isn't going to destroy the Earth.  We have particle colliders going now.  This one is bigger and will do more and give us more information, but it is still a particle collider.  Look at it this way.  If it does destroy us, we won't have to deal with more questions about 2012.
