We could all sing another song together: "You can't have one without the other". i.e. If the England Team are good enough to welcome to Ireland then I think the anthem comes with the package.

Silent Whisper- could I just point out that your comparison with n**i germany is supremely offensive and jaw-droppingly ignorant. We all know the political & historical  significance of Croke Park. We also know why the British ( not "English") Army attacked civilians there.

What a shame some people refuse to learn from history and are so keen to doom themselves  to repeat it.

Besides.. the Ireland rugby team is an all-Ireland representative team, and not an Eire team... in case you'd forgotten

After 13 people died on that pitch in 1920 at the hands of the British... No Bloody Way! I mean if the World cup was hosted in Poland and the german national team sung a n**i song, would be accepted. (No Offence to the Deutsch, since i am 1/4 Deutsche)

I agree with MG politics should not be mixed with sport. As an irish man I think we have to remember the past but also leave it in the past and get on with the present. I think that as a visiting team England have the right to have their national anthem played with the same respect as we would give to any other visiting team. come on Ireland.

even though it is being played in the place where bloody sunday occured it should still be treated with the respect our national anthem is treated with when its played in twickenham

yes god save the queen will be played but its the uk anthem,strickly speaking the english anthem is land of hope and glory. which never gets played unlike flower of scotland and all the other individual countries anthems

I'm guessing you mean God save the Queen, which is the British national anthem, not the English one (and a terrible one at that).  i've never understood why they don't use Land of Hope and Glory?

Thats the plan. Never thought I`d see it. So its time to move on. May the best team win. In the last match against France, Ireland were choked up with emotion for the first 20 minutes, and that was what really cost them the game, along with some crappy tackling at vital moments. We`ll see what happens on Saturday. Both teams will be up for it. Should be good, I hope there are no demonstrations or bad behavior to spoil it.The song I really want to hear at Croke Park on Saturday, is`nt God Save the Queen, Its "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" 2 minutes from time.

They will play "God Save The Queen" and present the English Colors, and then they will play "Irelands Call".

Yes it will. Don't believe everything you read in the media, this is a full international match and each team deserves to have their national anthem played no matter where the match is played. Let's keep politics out of sport!

In 1921 in retailition to the assination of 14 high ranking British Officials by Michael Collins and his men, the British Army entered Croke park in tanks during a charity match and over the course of a full day shot dead 12 of the spectators and the captain of one of the teams, and injured countless others. Among those killed were a woman due to be married the following week, and 3 boys aged 10, 11, and 14. The crowd of approximately 70,000 on the day were locked into the ground for the whole day as the British soldiers fired indiscriminatly into them, and forced them to hold their hands above their heads for the entire ordeal. Anyone seen to be lowering their hands was shot.

One of the stands in the ground (The Hogan Stand) now bears the name of the captain of the Tipperary team who was killed on the day

Under NO Circumstances should god save the queen be ever played at croke park,... yes british crown forces did murder 15 Innocent ppl at croke park and of as yet the brits have not said sorry or compensated the people involved . the people of Ireland are still waiting on the brit to say sorry for that and many more murder which are still happening to this day from there crown force or there paramilitary side kicks ... u.d.a , u.v.f and so on , and if u doubt me goggle " pat finucan" after a canadian judge peter corry summed up his report on inquiry" the brits set up" insisting there had to be an indepenent inquiry in to the collision of crown forces in his murder , well tht was 2 years ago and no sign of it.. Yes it will be played. The Ulster men in the Ireland team will sing along and just blank  Soldiers Song  as normal. They will sing a little for the Shoulder to shoulder number which is NAFF!
