I'm moving outta my moms today, she has a flea problem in her basement (where my room is) and i was wondering will the fleas be on all our stuff and move with us? she wants to bomb but shes waiting till we leave since I'm pregnant and cant be around pesticides, i don't wanna take any chances having my new place infested with fleas. I washed most of my stuff and put in plastic bags that are closed tight. Is there anything else i can do?

  1. The fleas will travel with you unless treated. The eggs and fleas can still attach themselves to the bags but will most likely be in clothing or bedding.Make sure everything that can be washed is,vacuum the entire area thoroughly and dispose of the vacuum bag immediately after vacuuming. There are still no guarantees that fleas will not be attached to something you take so it would be best to get your new home steam cleaned after you move in because the steam will kill them.I hope this helps.

  2. Flea's infest dogs the why lice infest humans. So yes, you should was everything or spray the things you can't wash with flea killer before you move to your new house. The good thing is that Fleas are not near as hard to get rid of. Then when you have cleaned everything get a flea collar for all your animals and treat him with flea repealing drops. Or if you want to stay away from chemicals all together try the website below I have done thing and several people I know has done it and it works like a charm every time.

  3. Yep, the fleas will travel with you. Nasty little things.

As you've already done, wash everything and don't take them back inside before you move unless the bags they are in are sealed.

If you have a pet that you're taking with you, treat it for fleas with Advantage or something about 2 hours before it arrives in your new home... that's usually long enough for the fleas to either die or jump off.

The problem is any furniture you may be taking with you though. Fleas lay eggs in matresses, sofas, etc. and the only effective way to get rid of them is to fumigate those items.

Vacuum like a nut case, both any furniture you're taking with you and once you arrive, vacuum daily for a few weeks and empty the cleaner after every go.

Flea eggs usually hatch in spring/summer, depending on where you live and the type of flea, so coming into winter you may think you've got rid of them but they could be back.

The only other thing I can suggest is move into a hotel for a week between leaving your Mom's and going to your new place, and wash everything again there.
