  1. i think they all will

  2. 1. Chipper Jones - Yes.  Before his career is over he will become the third greatest switch hitter in baseball history behind Mickey Mantle and Pete Rose.

    2.  Tom Glavine - Yes.  He reminded me a great deal of Whitey Ford.  Nothing overpowering but pin point control.  Able to win 300 plus games.

    3.  Greg Maddux - Yes.  Four Cy Youngs and 350 plus career wins.  What's left to say?

    4.  Ichiro Suzuki - Yes.  He will become the only player in baseball history to be elected into two halls of fame.  Both in Japan and in Cooperstown.

    5.  A-Rod - Yes.  If he never played another inning he has already done enough to join the other players in Cooperstown.

    6.  Derek Jeter - Yes.  Captain of the Yankees.  A .317 lifetime batting average.  Before his career is over he will join the 3000 hit club.  Four World Championship Rings.  Enough said.

    7.  Randy Johnson - Yes.  290 wins and counting.  Whether he reaches 300 wins is not important except for stats.  Most overpowering left handed pitcher in history.  Second in career strike outs only to Nolan Ryan.

    8.  Mariano Rivera - Yes.  Greatest closer in baseball history.  We could write a book about all that he has accomplished.

    9.  Joe Torre - Yes.  As a manager but his player stats are also very impressive.  Managing in New York is no easy task.  Dealing with Steinbrenner and still winning 10 division titles, 6 American League Pennants and 4 World Series Championships was no an easy thing to do.  Not only will he end up in Cooperstown, he will also earn Sainthood!

  3. the only one i don't see making it is Chipper , but the only way that will happen is if an injury makes him have to retire or walk away from the sport. but other than that we should see all of them in there one day, but not all of them will be first ballot only a few will be.

  4. 1. Chipper Jones yes

    2. Tom Glavine yes

    3. Greg Maddux yes

    4. Ichiro Suzuki no

    5. A-Rod yes

    6. Derek Jeter yes

    7. Randy Johnson yes

    8. Mariano Rivera yes

    9. Joe Torre yes

  5. They should all be in Cooperstown.

Not all 1st ballot but all will make it.

    Jack

  6. YES all of them

some might take longer then others but all of them are gona make it

  7. i think chipper's career numbers would at least warrant consideration, but right now he is borderline imo

glavine could be the last 300 game winner in major league history, i think he's going to get in

maddux is a lock with 350 wins

i don't think ichiro stands a chance, his numbers have fallen off some after his fantastic rookie season and he really won't have played very long at the major league level by the time he retires, at least compared to most other players

a-rod is an absolute shoo-in, he'll be the home run king by the time he is done

when you look at how jeter's career numbers stack up against other great yankees, and add the championships, i would have him in there as well

randy johnson is second all time in strikeouts and has 300 wins also, he's more or less a lock

mo is probably the greatest closer in the history of baseball and most definitely the greatest playoff closer of all time, i don't know that he's a 5 star lock but i would expect him to be in

i think you would have to put torre in on the strength of the world series rings, but i don't know about the first ballot because his detractors will point to the talent on the yankee teams he had

  8. yes all of them

  9. 1. Chipper - Yes

    2. Tommy - Yes

    3. Maddux - Yes

    4. Ichiro - doubtful...only his stats for over here are counted...he'd had to play for quite a bit more...

    5. A-Rod - Yes

    6. Jeter - Yes

    7. Johnson - Yes

    8. Rivera - Yes

    9. Torre - Yes

Besides Ichiro, I think they're all surefire HOFers. Also, throw in John Smoltz and Bobby Cox as well   :)

  10. Yeah all of them

  11. All yes in my book.  The least deserving one, stat-wise, is probably Jeter.  He has never really led the league in any significant statistical category (hits once in '99), is well-below average defensively (don't feel like arguing this point though, check out http://www.billjamesonline.net/fieldingb... if you disagree) and his perceived "clutch"ness is a deception (lower batting average and on-base percentage in the post-season than regular season).  However, he was the face and captain of a successful franchise, so he's in.

  12. 1 - Too early to tell, so far in his career, no, but there's still time.

    2 - Yes

    3 - Yes

4 - Yes - Based on the fact that he's the biggest name Japanese crossover and really changed the way that teams look at pro players in the Japanese leagues. Plus he's an amazing player.

    5 - Yes

    6 - Yes

    7 - Yes - for the K's alone

    8 - Yes

    9 - Yes

Of course, there's still time for many of these players to pull a McGwire and sour everybody on their accomplishments.

  13. 1. Not yet, but eventually.

    2. Yes

    3. Yes

    4. Yes

    5. Yes

    6. Yes

    7. Yes

    8. Yes

    9. Yes

  14. The only one I question is Chipper and Ichiro. I mean, Ichiro might go in, seeing as how he has over 3000 hits if you count overseas hits.

  15. yes

    yes

  16. Chipper is a maybe, could probably go either way with that one.  As for the rest of the list there, I think every one of them is a shoe in for the Hall.  Trust me Ichiro will have no problem getting in.  He made it all possible for Japanese players to come to the U.S and play for the best teams (sure there were Japanese players before him, but he was the first big name, the first position player and he definately was the one to make it possible).  Not to mention he's got 7 consecutive 200 hit seasons and 7 conscutive .300 BA seasons.  That's every year of his major league career (starting at age 27).  Not to mention after this season he'll probably be one 200 hit season from reaching the 2,000 hit mark.  So in my eyes Ichiro is a definate shoe in for the HOF.

  17. 1. Chipper Jones- YES!!!  One of the last great hype players to actually come through with his potential!

    2. Tom Glavine-300+ wins...YES!

    3. Greg Maddux-YES, look at the treasure chest of awards, 300+ wins.

    4. Ichiro Suzuki- I will say yes for the fact that he not only broke down a barrier he opened the flood gates of Japenese fielding players coming into the majors with his great play...200+ hits every year, MVP.

    5. A-Rod- Is this even a question...he is an easy 1st ballot

    6. Derek Jeter- THe legend and his batting average gets him in quickly

    7. Randy Johnson- Dominate pitcher for extended period, Cy Young awards, Championship, possible 300 game winner...YES!!!

    8. Mariano Rivera- Yes and probably (unlike Sutter and Gossage) First ballot, he goes in quick like Eckersley and Fingers.  Domination that we have not seen for a while especially over that length of time!

    9. Joe Torre- 4 championships assures him a spot in the HOF...it does not matter the city!

  18. Yes, all of them will make it because of the impact they have had on the game throughout their careers. Chipper is one of the greatest switch-hitters and offensive third basemen of all time. He has great across the board statistics, and is a great hitter. Jeter is overrated, but has had enough good seasons to warrant induction. Torre will be inducted for his managing success with New York and his run of World Championships. There can be no question about Ichiro, A-Rod, Randy, Maddux, or Rivera. No player has ever done what Ichiro has done over his career. If the other four players retired today, they would be sure Hall of Famers. A-Rod already has plenty of HR. Randy has dominated hitters for such a long time that it would be impossible for him to fail to make it in on the first ballot. Coupled with his five Cy Young Awards, he has undeniably been among the greatest the game has ever seen. Maddux epitomizes the true dimension of pitching: the art of pitching itself. Rivera is ninth-inning domination. No other closer, not even Hoffman, dominated the way he did over the past 12 years. Hoffman had his good years, but Rivera's stuff was just nasty. Rivera played a vital role in New York's World Championships and he has just had a better career than Hoffman. Hoffman may have more saves (for now), but there's really no comparison (an example why Sutter and Gossage are inducted and Lee Smith is not). Glavine will make it, because of his longevity and consistency.

  19. 1. Chipper Jones  Maybe, this year will def. help him!

    2. Tom Glavine  no, not 300 wins.

    3. Greg Maddux  Yes, the cy youngs and 300 + wins

    4. Ichiro Suzuki  Not even close.

    5. A-Rod  Best in history, Of course!... will be HR king.

    6. Derek Jeter  Yes, only cuz he's well OVERRATED

    7. Randy Johnson  Yes!

    8. Mariano Rivera  It will take a while, but prob.

    9. Joe Torre  He should be for what he's done for NY  and Steinbrenner also!

  20. Yes to all..... specially the pitchers, first ballot for the pitchers for sure .....

  21. Maddux/Glavine: 300 wins = instant ticket.  Plus all those Gold Gloves by Maddux.

Arod will break the all time home run record.  He's in.

Jeter's on his way to 3000 hits.  He's in.

Randy is now #2 all time in k's.  He's in.

Rivera is the best closer in the playoffs that I've seen.   I'd vote him in.

Torre manages my teams nemesis, but he should get in for what he did in NY.

Chipper Jones is a tough call.  He's certainly one of the best switch hitters in the game, but I question his fielding.

Ichiro IMHO should not get in, as he spent the majority of his time in the Japan leagues.

  22. I believe every single one of those players will be hall of fame at one point or another.

  23. Tom Glavine

    Greg Maddux

    Ichiro Suzuki

    Randy Johnson

    Mariano Rivera

    Joe Torre

    A-Rod

Are all first ballot HOFERS no questions asked even a-rod will squeak in on the first ballot

    Chipper Jones

    Derek Jeter

They may make their HOF on the second or third ballot but I think if Jeter keeps up his consistency and reaches the 3000 career hits he will get in...

  24. Chipper, Glavine, maddux, A-Rod( hate to admit this but he will be future home run king.), Jeter, Johnson, Rivera,

  25. I think that all nine have a very good chance of going to the Hall of Fame, and are, if I may, probably shoe-ins.

  26. Everyone probably will end up. Chipper has like what 300 switch hit homeruns. The pitchers definitley. Jeter will probably get to 3000 which is basically an invite. Even in Ichiros short career he will definitley. He has a shot at 3000 hits. And if he comes up a couple hits short. He also has the glove to back it up with. And yea. I think everyone should make it. Not all first ballot but.

  27. 1. Chipper Jones - should make it, he's well on his way

    2. Tom Glavine - YES

    3. Greg Maddux - YES

    4. Ichiro Suzuki - probably will because he was the first Japanese batter in the US.

    5. A-Rod - YES

    6. Derek Jeter - YES

    7. Randy Johnson - YES

    8. Mariano Rivera- YES

    9. Joe Torre - I think he's overrated as a manager but he'll probably get in.  If he can win the World Series in LA he'll prove me wrong and will definitely get it.

edit: Hmm, a thumbs down.  Must be from a Torre fan.
