  1. Maybe.  There have already been technologies such as the Spot Watch, but those haven't done so well.

I think the biggest problem might be size.  Even if pixel size can be reduced, there's only so much screen real estate with a small screen factor - and people will want to be able to see from a distance.  All of the popular PDAs have had large screens (Blackberry, iPhone).

Also, while a wristwatch might come in handy, it's also tied down.  Some people might not want to have to unfasten their strap everytime they want to leave it somewhere; they might just want to slip it out of their pocket.  Not a big problem, admittedly, but still a possible gripe.

What I think we might see in 5-10 years are devices with folding touchscreens.  Manufacturers are starting to come out with flexible displays - I think they'll be pretty popular.  Imagine a full-size screen that folds up to fit in your pocket!

With voice recognition capabilities, I definitely think you're right about them being likely innovations.  I think these might first come through headsets like the Jawbone - people are already using these to hear their calls better and to have hands-free access to their phones.

By having the headset and the screen, you can be on the phone and still have access to your screen to edit documents, etc., which is something you can't currently do with a Blackberry or iPhone.
