Seeing as the Patriot Act and many other laws made it so they can search our house with no warrant and no reason except for that we are a "suspected terrorist" , im afraid we may be losing our 1st amendment soon.....

we are powerless if they get rid of the right to bear arms..

  1. They cannot "remove" any Amendment to the constitution. What they can do is abrogate it, which is illegal and subject to reversal by the U.S. Supreme Court, or legally amend the Constitution, which requires a proposal and ratification by 2/3rds of the Congress and 3/4ths of the states.

  2. They won't -remove- it, they will redefine it out of existence, as the Bush administration has done with the 4th, 5th and 6th amendments.  Already the right to assembly has been relegated to 'free speech zones' where the protesters are out of camera range.  50% of Americans believe freedom of religion means freedom of -their- religion.  And the right to petition for redress of grievances has been redefined as the right to spend unlimited amounts of money lobbying and bribing Congressmen.

The cost of freedom is eternal vigilance. I think we have just had it too good too long in this country.  8^<

  3. Did the King of England impose a Stamp Act on the Colonies?

    Yes.

What did we do about it then?

    Seeing a pattern?

    ...

God! These people who still think it's about Democrat v Republican as if the illusion of a two-party system isn't the greatest power these DC Nimrod's have.

    Wake up.

    ...

  4. I'm sorry, but I have to admit it. The crowd that was labeled "conspiracy nuts" (falsely) has been right all along regarding this. We are losing more and more civil liberties every day.

I'm proud to announce that I am now a conspiracy nut!

    LONG LIVE PALEOCONSERVATISM!

    LONG LIVE AMERICA!

  5. research the fairness doctrine.  it would silence dissenting points of view, and censor everyone who doesn't agree with democrats.

  6. That's not true, read the act.

  7. The government doesn't have to remove Amendment I.  As with the Constitution in general, the government just ignores it.  Just an historical point to make, the n***s never abolished the Weimar Constitution and the Communists guaranteed all sorts of freedoms in their constitutions which were ignored.

I agree with an earlier poster however, that I am beginning to believe there is a right/left conspiracy to eliminate all civil liberties.

  8. It is basically impossible what with checks and balances and all.  If the government every does something really drastic - and they haven't, people, count your blessings - at least one branch will step up and do something.  If not, the power's in the people - we can elect someone new.  THEY have to answer to US, ultimately.

And I second the fact that if you think the PATRIOT Act is that bad, you just haven't read it or don't understand it.  I used to think that too, until I really looked into it - if you're not doing anything wrong, you've got nothing to worry about.  The government has enough to worry about, they really don't care about you.  Don't be so arrogant as to think that you're of any interest to people trying to catch real dangerous criminals.
