Question:

Will the grocery prices go up if one store has the monopoly?

I live in a small town and we have two grocery stores, Albertson's and IGA. IGA just bought out Albertson's so soon IGA will be the only grocery store, besides Walmart on the edge of town. Some people have said IGA will raise the prices since they will be the only grocery store. I say the prices will be the same or go down slightly because since they are the only grocery store they will get way more business now. What do you think?

  1. Our town has one grocery store and a Walmart SuperCenter. The Big Y store is almost double the prices of many namebrand products at Walmart. It will be interesting so see the outcome of your situation, but I bet you'll find yourself rationalizing extra trips to Walmart even though it's farther away, much like I do...especially if you need any nonfood or specialty items!

  2. You are thinking 'Idealistically'.

Grocery Prices, are likely to go up in situation explained by you, gradually!

Technique to check the prices, can be planed and

the same can be provided on demand.
