  1. Most of the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico stopped drilling oil as Gustav was approaching, meaning the supply has gone down.  And the evacuations means demand has increased.  It would be counter to the most basic laws of supply and demand if prices didn't increase.

  2. yes the prices already started rising.

  3. Doesn't everything?

  4. Of course it will.  It is just another excuse for the rich oil companies to raise their profits, even though they have had billion dollar profits already with the increase in prices.  Don't you know that the VP, d**k Cheny, has stock in these companies and has only become richer since G.W. Bush has been president.  We, the people, must begin to get involved.

  5. without a doubt.

  6. When a hurricane heads goes into the Gulf of Mexico it shuts down shipping lanes for crude oil tankers carrying their cargo to the refineries in Texas and Louisiana. The refineries also shut down.

Plus the fact that the major oil companies will use any spurious reason to hike the price at the pump.
