  1. the 300 mbps is the max transfer rate but it will give you full reign to the 512 kbps that you get from your internet provider

  2. A wireless router will not increase your download speeds. The 300 mbps is the max is router is able to transfer. Say you have a 400 mb connection, the router will only give the 300 mbps speed. It also depends on the wireless card of your computer. Say you have a 300 mb connection, but your wireless card in the computer, which receives the signal, is only 54mbps max, you will only get 54 mb out of the 300 you have. Bottom line, a new wireless router will not increase your 512 kbps service, or your 60 kbps download. It may increase by a couple kbps, but nothing dramatic. And by the way, your download speed will always be smaller than your service. Typically a 3 mbps service will only dish out at best 360 kbps as a download speed. Your best way to increase your speed would be to change your connection plan to a faster speed. And trying download accelerators won't hurt, such as download accelerator plus - http://www.download.com/Download-Acceler... Hope this helps.
