Will the integrity of a laminate floor be compromised if I lay a few boards with no end interlocking?

If i lay about 3 small lengths (400 mm) of clic to clic laminate flooring boards (offcuts) in the middle of the floor without interlocking them on the ends but only the sides will it be a problem?

  1. Yes it will be a problem. The floor expands and contracts. So if they aren't locked together they could open up. The only way around it would be to cut a slot on the ends and use a spline and glue.

  3. You can probably get away with it.  It won't compromise the floor's integrity, but it may be noticeable because the ends won't meet properly.
