Will the ipod classic only take in songs from itunes?

i'm planning on getting a classic, but i heard that you could only put songs on it if the songs were from the itunes website. is that true? if it isnt, then how can i get the songs from my regular library onto my classic?

As long as it is in your itunes library, it can go on your ipod.

Just import all your music to there.

In Itunes under file use import and locate your folder with your music in it and import it into itunes.  I have tons of cd's that I imported into itunes and then onto my classic. Once I imported all of my cd's I put them in storage. Also it's important to back up your music.  :)
