  1. I think they have a great shot at Kurt Thomas.

Thomas is by far, the best free agent backup Center out there.

His toughness would give the Lakers a boost on their way to the other end.

But personally, I think the Lakers best move would be Odom and Mihm for Shawn Marion.

Marion is by far is the best replacement for Odom. Sure Odom is longer and has a bigger wingspan, but Marion uses every part of his body to make the crucial stop. He isn’t the fastest player on the court, but he puts himself in a good position to stop his defender.

He has about the same rebounding as Odom, but Marion brings consistency in rebounding, scoring, and defending

Marion's experience can help train the younger guys, such as Trevor Ariza, Sasha Vujacic, Luke Walton, or even Coby Karl, to develop into stronger role players.

  2. Odom drives Lakers nuts with his inconsistency. But the players being considered for trades (e.g. Matrix or Ron Artest) are not much stronger in that department. Artest is a difficult trade, more toughness for even less predictable offense. Marion gives them verstality which Phil would love. But Marion has problems playing #2 or #3 dog in the pack - that's why he left the Suns in the first place.

It is unlikely that they pull off another Gasol (get a lot of value without giving up their own chips). But crazy things can happen in the NBA these days... such as Clippers getting Camby for next to nothing.

The best "new" player Lakers can field in 2009 is already on the team. Bynum's return should impact more than any trade they can swing with limited salary cap.

  3. no, they already got pau

  4. they can't sign anybody big, they would have to give up Odom to get a good player in a trade

  5. it depends on there salary cap if it has enough salary

    for a good player

  6. They got Kobe and others. They dont need to waste their money like Suns and Mavs.

  7. Lakers don't need another player .

    They have Bynum coming back

and he's a very good player.

  8. No, because they don't have enough salary cap to sign a quality player.

  9. Honestly I think the Lakers are stubborn. All you here is that the Lakers want to make a trade but they never do. If Gasol wasn't a give away, they probably won't have him on their team. To me the Lakers are just talk, they are not going to do anything. The Lakers want to trade Odom for Marion or Artest and yet the Lakers has put no effort into getting any of these players. Lakers believe too much in there crappy team. Now that Luke Walton is taking surgery, he is going to be even more wack. If you ask me, I think Kobe is running the show. He is telling the Lakers franchise what to do and who he wants on his team. I don't think the Lakers would get any new players, they're going to start the season with the same roster. They have a pretty good starting line up if they drop Vladimir Radmanovic. It would be Fisher, Kobe, Odom, Gasol, Bynum. Lakers need to get rid of there bench players, they are no good anyways.

  10. The Ron Artest rumors have already started.

  11. maybe not but they could get some good role playing free agents..

  12. the lakers is stuck with Lamar. the NBA teams know how he can choke when the chips are down. so in a nutshell, they're stuck with the same squad with the rehabilitated bynum!

  13. Trade Lamar for Artest!
