Question:

Will the left ever stop using the general welfare clause of the Constitution to justify every program?

When people like me ask where the Constitutional authority is for one or any number of unconstitutional boondoggle spending programs, the answer is almost always "The Constitution says government can do whatever it wants to promote the general welfare!! There!! Now pay up!!". Unfortunately for the left, the general welfare clause applies only to those government powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution, which we all know are extremely limited.

So, will the left ever reverse course and have the intellectual honesty to stop using the general welfare clause to justify every government program?
